Darlings and Brahmastra actress, Alia Bhatt, recently wore a cool eyeshadow look that made us want to go back to dark and sparkly eyeshadows to wear for evenings out.

But, given the fact that most of us cannot create an elaborate party on our eyes with several different eyeshadows, we thought it best to create Alia-inspired sparkly and dark eye makeup with eyeshadow sticks and crayons.

So, here are our favourite picks.

• Apply the colour straight from the shadow stick or crayon, close to the lashline, like an eyeliner.

• The line can be thick or thin depending on how much lid space you have, and whether you want a bold or subtle look.

• Take a stiff pencil brush and blend out the edges of that line.

• Blend upwards, keeping the colour dark near the lashes, and lighter as it goes upwards towards the crease of your eye socket, in the direction of the brows.

• After you’ve blended, apply some more of the eyeshadow near the lashline to darken that part, as the blending would have made it fade a bit.

• Apply some of it like a kajal on the lower lashline, and blend out the edge of that with an angled eyebrow or eyeliner brush.

An affordable eye crayon which is great for beginners, this can be blended with the fingertips easily. The colour is a dramatic charcoal black with flecks of silver-grey shimmer, making it very similar to Alia’s eyeshadow colour. So, if you want to create a classic black and silver smokey eye, this crayon is perfect!

A gorgeous deep navy blue hue that almost looks black, this has really subtle shimmer particles in it. Great for an evening-time, party-ready smokey eye akin to Alia’s, this comes with a sponge applicator that makes it easy to blend the shadow out.

A shade that can either be used for a glamorous and bronzed evening look or for a pared-down, everyday neutral look, this is the perfect soft-glam shadow colour. If you prefer more of a brown-toned smokey eye, this is a great choice. The chocolatey base contains subtle bronze shimmer which is so well-mixed, you can barely see the shimmer. As a result, you get a glowy, brown-toned eye look, sans chunky glitter particles.

A very sexy olive green hue, this is for those who love their green-toned eye looks. But, unlike cooler, louder greens, this is more warm-toned and looks less stark on the skin. The creamy texture and easy-to-blend formula make this feel so premium to use. So, it’s perfect for those who want to splurge on something luxurious.

While the price of this might be jaw-droppingly high, its formulation, performance and texture are second to none. It is very pigmented, glides on smoothly and effortlessly, doesn’t settle into the lids’ creases, doesn’t flake off or melt off, all despite being easy to blend. All of those things, in one single eyeshadow, are tough to come by. Plus, the mauve-toned hue of this stick is also unusual, making it a nice buy!
