As the heatwave rumbles on, we're all craving one thing right now: nourishing, hydrating products to keep our skin and hair in check amidst the sweltering temperatures. From Dove's new high-tech skin-quenching body lotion to Dr Sam Bunting's ceramides-infused lip tint and the Marly body oil that will have everyone asking you what scent you're wearing, we've got plenty of hot new finds for you. That's not forgetting Chanel's new glow-enhancing skin tint, that's basically summer skin in a bottle and Murad's genius new retinol-infused eye masks that will banish any air con-induced eye fatigue. Plus, don't miss Ciaté's new feel-good eye palette which is guaranteed to make you smile.
“When Dr Sam Bunting launches a new skin product, it’s only after extensive consultation with her community to find something that answers real people’s needs. For her first colour product - a high gloss lip tint rich in ceramides - she turned to makeup artists to ask them what was missing and many reported missing lipsticks with balms to create a more natural and nourishing sheen than traditional lip glosses could provide.’ This universal tint (a berry shade) is her response that works on all skin tones for a healthy bitten lip look. It has great gloss and staying power and is something I use for those my-lips-but-better moments, whether by itself or over lipstick. This is an essential everywhere, one in your bag, one in your bathroom and even one in your car.” Victoria Woodhall, Editorial Director
“While I’m (very) grateful for our office air con, it often leaves me feeling dehydrated and drowsy by mid-pm, so instead of reaching for another coffee, I’ve been popping a couple of these under-eye masks on to revive my otherwise parched complexion. Created in partnership with TikTok-famous skincare guru Dr. Zion Ko, they are made using a thin mesh that feels much less obtrusive against the delicate skin around my eyes than any others I’ve tried, and they don’t budge thanks to the non-slip bio-cellulose. Infused with the brand’s signature Tri-Active retinol, which harnesses the power of a fast-acting retinoid and delayed-release retinol, with added blue agave and passion fruit extract, it all works to firm, de-puff, and leave my eyes feeling refreshed - like a well-needed shot of hydration.” Rosie Fitzmaurice GTG Freelance Contributor
"I know what you’re thinking, a matte lip in summer? It’s not usually a vibe for those of us who enjoy a summer gloss. But this new launch from Selena Gomez’s beauty line Rare Beauty is sensational. The buttery soft-matte lipstick is almost like a big hug for your lips: it’s comfortable, nourishing and you’ll never want to let go. The long-lasting formula is hydrating and not in the slightest bit drying, so you won’t find your lips cracking (or melting!) in this heatwave. Choose from 10 pigment-rich everyday colours that suit all skin tones. My personal favourite shade is 'fun', a bright coral that as the name suggests, adds a bit of excitement to the day. Pair with the Rare Beauty Lip Liners, £14, loved by Get The Gloss’ Amy Rostas for a waterproof finish (and built-in sharpener) and your pout will be set for summer." Jemma Thompson, GTG Design and Social Media Manager
"Sol de Janeiro’s iconic Cheirosa line already has an extensive range, because, frankly, people can't get enough of the delicious sweet scent of salted caramel and vanilla - it really does smell good enough to eat. The cult Bum Bum firming body cream, £46 is my forever re-purchase product and now I'm hooked on the brand's new leave-in conditioner. Let's be clear, this is no ordinary leave-in conditioner, it does more than just hydrate those pesky split ends. It also acts as a primer that offers heat protection, perfect to use before a blowdry, while if you want to leave it to air dry, it also helps with frizz control. I can confirm my hair remained frizz-free, even in this humid weather after using it (this could just be my new miracle product). It gives tresses a gorgeous shine and also works perfectly as an overnight hydrating treatment. I have used it every which way possible, I doubt it will last more than a month at this rate." Amy Rostas, GTG Beauty and Social Media Assistant
"As a victim of thin, flat hair I’m constantly on the lookout for volume-boosting products. So when a friend recently raved about the new Absolute Collagen Thickening Shampoo I was eager to road test it. The results are immediate and I’m happily writing this now with the most fabulous hair. It feels thicker, looks shinier and has way more bounce. This product has been formulated with cutting-edge technology to counter the decline of collagen which naturally comes with age. It feeds the hair essential amino acids deep within the cortex and there are enriching oils to strengthen, nourish and hydrate. Clinical trials have shown a 20 per cent increase in hair thickness after eight weeks when using both the shampoo and conditioner. I'll be stocking up pronto." Marie-Louise Pumfrey, GTG contributor
"Facial oils might not be the first thing you reach for in peak summer, but as a dedicated subscriber to their skin rehydration powers year-round, I'm impressed with my latest find - and it might just convert even the most fervent naysayers. Restored Skincare was founded by model Katie Grant, who was suffering from severe acne breakouts. Her latest launch is a lightweight non-comedogenic face oil, which means it doesn’t clog or block the pores on your skin, making it suitable for all skin types, including acne-prone skin. The formula is a cocktail of omega 3 fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants like camellia and papaya seed oil, as well as plant-derived squalane. Each ingredient has a purpose of its own, but together they perfectly balance the skin and leave you glowing." Hattie Sloggett, GTG contributor
“Hooray! Chanel has brought back its microdroplet summer skin tint, which launched a few years ago and then disappeared and this time in more shades than the original three. This is the perfect summer skin base - think of it as an all-over version of the Chanel Les Beiges Soleil Tan cream bronzer. It’s more of a veil than coverage-focused, although you can add more under the eyes for example without it looking cakey. It comes with a brush to ‘burst’ the bubbles of pigment into the watery fluid, so you do need to do a mirror check to make sure that you’ve worked them all in. Better still, mix it on the back of your hand first. It makes me look holiday- fresh, and I’m layering it with the new microdroplet Water Fresh Blush, £42 too which is perfect for a no-makeup look to go with it.” VW
“I’ll admit, I can be lazy with applying body cream so this super absorbent and non-sticky lotion is ideal for me when I’m inevitably in a rush in the mornings. With a quick-drying formula, I can simply slather and go. Aimed at those with dry, dehydrated or sensitive skin (or all three), the whole range is fragrance-free and hypoallergenic. But it’s ceramides that are the key ingredient here, or those things that bind our skin cells together and help lock in moisture for the suppleness we all crave. They naturally occur in the skin and are also added synthetically to products, however, rather than adding topical ceramides to the formula, the new DermaSeries 'activation system' contains tiny building blocks which are supposed to act as a catalyst to encourage your skin to create natural ceramides of its own, all in the name of supporting a healthy skin barrier. The range includes both body and facial products - I’m also a big fan of the uber Hydrating Facial Cleanser, £9 - and everything comes in fully recycled bottles.” RF
"One of my all-time favourite beauty products is blusher. There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t reach for it, and this four-shade palette satisfies all of my glowing needs and, impressively, suits all skin tones. It’s made in collaboration with Smiley (which is happily celebrating 50 years of smiles!) to spread positive vibes — and it does just that. It’s hard not to look at the peachy pink to sultry deep bronze shades in the quad without smiling. Plus, it reminds me of one of my all-time favourite blushers Nars Orgasm, £27.50 (a classic!). The shades have the same warmth and illuminating finish, which act almost like a blush and highlighter hybrid leaving you with radiant, glowing dolphin-like skin, and is incredibly easy to build up. Oh, and you get four shades for the same price as one Nars blusher, not bad!" JT
"Body oils are something many shy away from for fear of being an oily sticky mess but I can confirm this is not the case with this new launch. If you’ve never heard of Parfums de Marly, get to know before everyone else does. The perfumes - although pricey - smell amazing and last all day long, so much so that they've become a viral sensation on TikTok. This is the body oil version of Delina, which GTG’s Jemma Thompson introduced me to when she finished it last month. With notes of peony, grapefruit, rose and lychee, the smell reminds me of a sweeter, more intense version of Diptique’s Rose EDP. The dry oil formula means super-fast absorption, with no oily residue, and it leaves my skin glistening in the sun. While £75 may seem expensive for a body oil this essentially doubles as a perfume. Win, win." AR
"This hot weather is a great excuse to give your hair a little TLC. And if you're lucky enough to be jetting off on holiday soon then this Innersense travel trio is a must-have. Featuring the Hydrating Cream Hairbath, Hydrating Cream Conditioner, and Sweet Spirit Leave-In Conditioner, it all comes in hand luggage-friendly 60ml bottles. The Hairbath shampoo is designed for thick, thirsty lengths and is packed with sage and tamanu essential oils to nourish the scalp and keep hair bouncy, while the emollient-rich conditioner, with organic monoi oil and aloe, helps to strengthen hair follicles and control frizz, and the lightweight detangling spray, infused with flower essence, herbs and honey, is perfect for a refresh on the go." “If you wonder whether supplements actually do what they say, this ultra-boffiny sustainable brand is one to know. It tests the efficacy of all of its supplements right up to the use-by date so that you know that your last capsule is as potent as the first and that it stands up to its claims. Arguably nowhere is this more important than with a probiotic supplement such as this, where bacteria can easily die if not manufactured and packaged properly. This super skin booster was originally created to support our fight against inflammation and oxidation, but in trials it was found to have potent age-proofing effects too, tackling seven signs of ageing such as wrinkles and dullness but especially loss of elasticity. This is a new improved formula featuring postbiotics (bacteria by-products that our body needs) as well as probiotics and vitamin C. For less than £1 a day, I’m sold." VW
“A derm recently told me that one of their number one easy skincare hacks would be to invest in a shower filter. Why? Because hard water can wreak havoc with both our hair and skin. That tight feeling you sometimes get after a shower? It could be down to a build-up of minerals left behind from hard water. Calcium and magnesium can also dry out lengths, leaving them prone to damage. The alkalinity of hard water, meanwhile, can also disrupt the natural pH of the scalp and skin. Enter Hello Klean, a showercare brand that, while not new, is a recent discovery of mine. Having attached the shower filter, I have noticed a difference in the softness of my skin and hair. I'm using it in tandem with the brand’s Clarifying Scalp Soak, £25, made with apple cider vinegar and fermented rice water to help gently restore the pH balance, and the squidgy Exfoliating Scalp Brush, £10, to slough off dead skin cells. Now my fine, often frazzled summer strands are feeling much more nourished.” RF
